Happy New Year, Happy New Affirmations

For 2023, I’m putting my life online as if my life were on the line.

I have reaffirmed my dedication to self-expression in this New Year’s Day video. I have replaced my defeatist affirmations of the past with aspirational affirmations for the future. Read the transcript or, better yet, watch the video to understand what compels me to share about myself.

Video Transcript:

I’m living proof that affirmations work. For years I had a tape running in my head saying, “I’m in pain every day and I don’t want to live anymore.” And I was in pain every day, and I didn’t want to live anymore. I had a sign on my desk that said:

SUICIDE
Not a question of if.
Just a question of when.

But this is January 1st, 2023. New Year’s Day. It’s a beautiful, sunny day. I’m still in pain, but I need a new affirmation. And here’s the one that I have for going forward through my life:

I am a creative self-expression that resonates with what is true in all the universe and reaches what is beautiful in each of us.

Happy New Year, everyone. May our dreams and hopes come true. May we be the best that we can be. God bless. Bye bye.

My essential self-expression is all that sustains me now. I am in a years-long recovery from mental and physical health challenges with no guarantee of reaching the finish line. I have to tell my stories, while I can.
